MSS and IRUSA Distribute 2,000 Pounds of Qurbani Meat to 400 Families in Need
On June 25, 2025, MUNA Social Services, in partnership with Islamic Relief USA (IRUSA), distributed over 2,000 pounds of Qurbani meat—including lamb and beef—to 400 families at Baitul Mamur Masjid and Community Center in Brooklyn, NY.
This special Eid al-Adha distribution ensured that struggling families could partake in the joy and spiritual significance of the holiday with dignity. The fresh Qurbani meat was carefully packaged and delivered to ensure cultural appropriateness and nutritional value.
“This partnership reflects the power of collective compassion,” said Dr. Jahangir Kabir, Director of Operations and Communication at MUNA Social Services. “Being able to provide families with Qurbani meat during Eid is about more than just food—it’s about preserving dignity, sharing joy, and strengthening our community through the values of faith and service.”

MSS and NYPD Immigrant Outreach Unit Bring Joy to Children with Toy Giveaway at QAFYS
MUNA Social Services, in collaboration with the NYPD’s Community Affairs Bureau Community Outreach Division’s Immigrant Outreach Unit, brought smiles to over 200 children by distributing toys during a special cultural event at QAFYS (Quran Academy for Young Scholars).
This joint effort reflects a shared commitment to community engagement, especially in immigrant neighborhoods, where positive outreach helps build trust and bring families together. The event featured a festive atmosphere and meaningful connections between families and local officers.
Sergeant Latif of the NYPD Immigrant Outreach Unit shared, “Partnering with MUNA Social Services allows us to connect with the community in meaningful ways. Events like these remind us that building safer neighborhoods starts with building stronger relationships—with children, with parents, and with every member of the community.”

MSS Serves 500 Families with Essential Groceries in Buffalo, NY
In its continued commitment to fighting food insecurity across underserved communities, MUNA Social Services proudly served 500 families in Buffalo, NY with essential grocery packages this month.
Each family received a thoughtfully prepared bundle containing culturally appropriate staples, including rice, lentils, oil, onions, potatoes, canned goods, and fresh produce—ensuring dignity, nourishment, and comfort for households facing economic hardship.
This distribution marks another important step in MUNA’s mission to empower and uplift communities, especially during times of rising food prices and uncertainty. Local volunteers and partner organizations played a vital role in ensuring a smooth and welcoming distribution process.

Aim High Academy Launches Summer Program to Prepare Students for 2025–2026 School Year
MUNA Social Services’ Aim High Academy is excited to launch its Summer Academic Enrichment Program, designed to give students a head start for the 2025–2026 academic year. This program offers a joyful and supportive learning environment where students can strengthen their skills in English Language Arts (ELA) and Math.
Classes will be held twice a week for four hours, focusing on core academic areas that will set students up for success in the upcoming school year. With a 7:1 student-to-teacher ratio, each child receives personalized support from highly motivated tutors who attend specialized high schools across NYC.
The curriculum has been carefully crafted by New York State-certified teachers to ensure alignment with grade-level standards and to help students build confidence in foundational skills.

MSS Distributes Over 300,000 Pounds of Food to 26,000+ People in June 2025
In June 2025, MUNA Social Services reached a major milestone in its fight against food insecurity. Through its network of 32 food pantries across New York, New Jersey, and Delaware, MUNA distributed over 300,000 pounds of food, serving more than 26,000 individuals and families in need.
The food distribution included a wide range of culturally appropriate staples such as rice, lentils, onions, potatoes, fresh produce, and frozen items like fish and chicken. In honor of Eid al-Adha, many recipients also received Qurbani meat, ensuring they could celebrate the holiday with dignity and joy.
This effort reflects MUNA Social Services’ unwavering commitment to ensuring that no one in our community goes hungry. With compassion at the core of its mission, MUNA continues to deliver not only food but hope and dignity to thousands of households every month.
